Sri Khili Munda Maa Jathra Divine Village Goddess Festival

Sri Khili Munda Maa is a revered Gramadevata (Village Guardian Goddess) worshipped with deep devotion in the villages of Balapatia and Honnali, located in Mandasa Mandal, Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh. Every year, the grand festival of Sri Khili Munda Maa Jathra is celebrated with great enthusiasm, discipline, and sacred age-old traditions. On the auspicious day of Amavasya, devotees begin a holy barefoot procession, carrying the divine idol of Sri Khili Munda Maa from Balapatia to Honnali.Upon reaching Honnali, the Divine Mother visits every household for eight days, blessing devotees with good health, prosperity, protection, harmony, and auspicious fortune.A special offering during the festival is the sacred red peacock flowers, brought from the forests near Paralakhemundi in Odisha. These rare flowers are believed to be greatly beloved by the Goddess and are lovingly offered along with fresh garlands every day. Sacred Sambrani incense is lit to purify the surroundings and invite divine grace into every home.
